He worked for more than 15 years in pollution control in coal gasification and downstream petrochemical sector.

Dr. Somayajulu is a Visiting Professor - Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, IIM Amritsar, IIFT, Delhi, FMS-Delhi University and University of Hyderabad.

He has carried out consulting assignments for several organizations which include AP State Road Transport Corporation, AP State Trading Corporation, AP Tourism Development Corporation, Center for Good Governance (GoAP & DFID, UK), AP Urban Services for the Poor (APUSP- GoAP, Dalal- Mott McDonald & DFID, UK) and Revenue Department, GoAP, MIDHANI etc

He has conducted several management development programmes for senior executives from several leading public and private sector organizations including BHEL, BSNL, Bongaigaon Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited, Vizag Steel Plant, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, NTPC, Godavari Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited, ITC Hotels, HAL, Hindustan Zinc Limited, Andhra Bank, Engineers India Limited, State Bank of India, NMDC, APMDC, APSTC, AP State Warehousing Corporation, etc.

Dr. Somayajulu has mentored several start-up firms as part of IM's outreach program. Advisor, Foundation for MSME Clusters and National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) and has taught in NEN's Foundation and Advance Programs for Entrepreneurship Educators. He has attended Entrepreneurship Educators Colloquium for Participant Centered Learning at Harvard Business School and Experiential Classroom Teaching at the Oklahoma State University.
